Friday reflection

Justice Jackson!

It’s important to celebrate wins, and Ketanji Brown Jackson’s appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court is a WIN: A win for this country, a win for Black women’s representation at the highest levels of power — and a win for the representation of Black moms, in particular.

The quote

"I have a son and a daughter, and it’s a gift for our children to see Black mothers not just holding positions of power in our communities, but in our government and legal system."

- Leslie Ford, mother of 2, Massachusetts, via TODAY

The question

When you think about Black mothers in position of power, who comes to mind?

Can you think of books, TV shows, or films that depict Black moms in leadership roles? (The obvious example here is Claire Huxtable, but: Who else?)

Share your thoughts in the comments. And plug media you recommend that represents Black moms leading; let’s all read/watch it, and promote it on social media, in honor of Justice Jackson.

She is a mighty force.
