Friday reflection
Bloom
Sorry for the late send this week!
Greetings, and happy Friday!
What will you do to help yourself bloom this weekend?
I’m writing this from a coffee shop with a perfect coffee shop vibe, with African music playing and a fresh breeze coming in through the open door. I am sipping green tea with honey and lemon. I got a massage earlier. I can feel myself settling into myself. I feel a blooming in the sense that I am unfurling, petals allowing themselves to open, instead of holding closed and tight.
You know what else is blooming? Mighty Forces, whose garden I’ve been tending for almost six years at this point SO MUCH BLOOMING is coming this summer:
🌺 I’ll be introducing two new team members — Lisa Gates and Christine Taylor, awesome women and story coaches whose voices and styles complement mine in juicy ways.
🌺 The three of us are developing a podcast. I’ve experimented with podcasting here on Substack, but this is a for-real, we-hired-a-producer, we-are-doing-the-thing-we’ve-been-talking-about-for-over-a-year podcast. It’s called Liminal Women, and it’s about navigating the liminal, in-between spaces in our lives. It’s also about whatever the f*ck else we want it to be about; conversations meander around to such topics as, say, Christine’s favorite pair of pajamas. Enough with men being the only ones allowed to turn on their mics, shoot the shit, and call it a podcast! …Except instead of men, we’re smart, opinionated, deep women. Stay tuned: Liminal Women is coming this summer.
🌺 I’m 99% done with a brand new Mighty Forces website, which I’ll be launching next week. It reflects new messaging that emphasizes the bigger “why” behind telling women’s stories and amplifying women’s voices (hint: it’s not just about summoning personal courage… it’s about participating in the world and changing the shape of our collective futures).
🌺 The new site will also debut my new visual identity, which I’m so excited about; I’m keeping the pink as an accent, but some other colors are taking central stage in a way that feels really good to me.
NOTE: Our Liminal Women podcast producer is a woman who runs her own business; so is the designer I’ve been working with. I’ll spotlight each of them and give them the recognition they deserve in the coming weeks, but for now, a reminder that we can help each other bloom in so many ways. Supporting women-owned businesses is only one example. What’s your favorite?
You are a mighty force, and I am wishing you a weekend full of just the right amounts of sunlight, water, and soil.
