Friday reflection
Resolving to go
My husband, daughter and I are currently in the process of moving after six years in our current home, which is the longest I’ve lived in one place since before I went to college (which, no big deal, I just realized was over a quarter century ago). This morning, as I sat amidst a sea of moving boxes, I found myself thinking about moving, or movement, in our lives and careers — how we get stuck, how we create flow, and how our relationship to movement influences our stories.
The Jeannette Walls quote below felt like the perfect spark for reflection on these ideas.
Quote
“Once you'd resolved to go, there was nothing to it at all.”
- Jeannette Walls, The Glass Castle
Questions
Do you agree with this quote? Why or why not? Write about a time in your life when you made a decision, and what happened next.
What does it feel like, in your body, when you truly resolve to do something?
What are you resolved to do, right now?
Now I am resolving to end this email…ha, ha. But seriously, I hope you find this week’s prompts provocative and useful to explore. I’d love for you to share your thoughts in the comments — take a chance and trust that if at least five of you share your ideas, you’re bound to inspire each other, and realize you aren’t as alone in this movement called life as you may fear.
You are a mighty force.
