Friday reflection
Wisdom from Toni Morrison
I’m in a wonderful mastermind group for women business owners (hosted by the fabulous Cat Wood of Unbounded Potential). The group recently had a rich conversation about the importance of connecting with our visions for our businesses. It can be so hard, amid the day-to-day, to set aside the time to imagine. What’s more, declaring our dreams takes courage, and hope — two precious, essential qualities that we too often expect to show up on their own, without any cultivation on our part.
I hope this week’s reflection inspires you to make the time, and till the soil, for your dreams.
The quote
“As you enter positions of trust and power, dream a little before you think.”
- Toni Morrison
The questions
Why do you think Morrison offered us this advice?
Thinking back to a time when you entered a position of trust and power… did you allow yourself to dream before you thought? Why or why not?
I’m dreaming of a world filled with women’s stories. I’m dreaming, too, of all the ways in which these stories will create space for women’s leadership in every area of life— because the more women lead, the better, more compassionate and collaborative world we create.
